Credits
Now you'll set the credits for all the people that were part of the song process.
As soon as you open the page you can see everyone that's been credited, if you want to include more collaborators in this list (even if they aren't registered in Session), you can do so by clicking in the orange box in the lower right corner "add credit".
As soon as you click it you'll be redirected to a new page where you can include any relevant information: name, role, Identification (such as IPI, IPN, ISNI), Location, Country and date of inclusion. If you want to learn more about music industry identifiers check out our articles on the music industry
Done! just click "add" and now they're registered in the metadata of the project! that's how Session Studio helps people get the credit they deserve
Received Credits
these can be found in your profile section on Session Studio. Here you have a display of every music song project that you're credited on. If you click on the song title you'll be redirected to a screen with more information , such as location, country, and who added you to that specific song project.
In a Song, any Collaborator (who has Access) can add credits for all contributors to the Song or Recording. A contributor can be in the capacity of a Songwriter, Musician, Artist, Producer or other role.
The Credit can be added manually or the contributor can scan the QR code in the Song room. If the person is credited with their Session Studio profile, all their important profile data, like name and identifiers (IPI, IPN) are added automatically.
Note: a person added to Credits does not get access to the Song room, that is only given through the Access tab in the Song.
What does Songwriter C/A/CA mean?
The different Songwriter roles in Session Studio mirror the roles used for registering a song with the writer’s collecting society.
The most used ones are:
C= Composer
A= Author/Lyricist
CA: writers who contribute to both music and lyrics
Spilts
A split is how much of the copyright you own for a composition. It always has to be 100%, so if you wrote it yourself, that’s the split. if you co-wrote the composition with others, you have to agree on a split that you’re all happy with.
When every songwriter has been credited, you can propose a publishing rights split share to all collaborators included in the project. Just go to the splits tab and propose a split. Now you can select every songwriter, put their percentage part of it, and propose the split. When everyone is happy with the proposed split, you can download a PDF file of the agreement.
Details
You can include any relevant details for your project. Here you can include Alternative title, artists name, genre, key, time signature, Tempo, language, if it's explicit, duration, creation date, studio location and leave notes.
this is really important for the release, so when you're sending your song to a label or to soundcloud all information get included in your song project.
