Remix Roulette

How remix roulette works

Updated over a year ago

Remix roulette is a chance for music creators to share stems with each other to remix a song. This is something that will be run in the Session STudio community which you can join here The link will take you directly to the Remix Roulette channel so you can sign up.

How it works

Every month creators who show interest in participating will be randomly paired with another music creator. You will then have a month to work on each others stems to then present the songs at a listening party.

There will be an event where the pairings will be chosen live within the community. The names will also then be added in a post with the Remix Roulette channel. You will then need to contact the person you're paired with to arrange the stem sharing. The best way to do this is to add them to a song within Session Studio and add the stems.

You will need to upload the remix to the person who created the stems song within Session Studio so they have access to a copy of what's been done with their work at all times.

The songs that are created will need to be shared via Session Studio share link in the Remix Roulette channel before the listening party. The date for the listening party will be announced during the drawing of the pairings.

You will have a chance to talk about your approach to the stems for 5 minutes during the listening party. This isn't a requirement and you can choose to just have the song played. The best songs will be used on Session Studio's social media accounts with the agreement of both music creators.

FAQ's

  • If there is an odd amount of music creators entering and you're left out, you will automatically go into the next session and be guaranteed to be matched with someone.

  • If you are paired and don't participate with the creator you're paired with you will not be entered the next month. You will be allowed to join in the month after.

  • Stems remain the sole property of the person who created them. Anyone who wants to use their remix on digital service providers (Spotify etc) will need permission and to credit the creator of the stems.

  • If Session Studio uses the remixes for promotional purposes they will ask for permission as all rights will stay with the creators.
